Desert Rats Memorial

Desert Rats Memorial

The Dedication of The Desert Rats Memorial took place at The National Memorial Arboretum on Sunday 23rd Octover 2022 and two of our Beneficiaries, Mike Taylor and Jon Ringer took part in carving the stonework for this amazing artwork.

The Desert Rat is made of Steel, representing the steely determination of the soldiers, the plinth is made of stand stone, representing the desert sand and when the Desert Rat rusts, the red staining represents the blood lost by the casualties during this campaign. The nose of the Desert Rat points towards El Alamein. Both Veterans and serving members of the Desert Rats, together with invited guests took part in the Dedication Service in the presence of General Sir Adrian Bradshaw KCB OBE DL
