Project Welfare Support at The Bridge for Heroes is going from strength to strength, providing consistent, person-centred support to veterans, serving personnel (including reservists), Armed Forces family members and carers across the local community.

Funded by The Veteran’s Foundation, the project aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by reducing anxiety, stress and isolation. It offers a safe and welcoming environment where members of the Armed Forces community can talk openly, feel listened to and access support tailored to their individual needs.

Through friendly conversations, practical welfare assistance and ongoing guidance, the project is helping people build resilience, strengthen family relationships and feel better equipped to manage life’s challenges.

One beneficiary summed up the value of the support by describing The Bridge for Heroes as:

“This is my safe place. It’s somewhere I can come, be myself, talk openly and know that people understand and are there for me. I don’t feel alone when I’m here.”

Feedback like this demonstrates the importance of having somewhere people feel comfortable, accepted and supported. Building trust and meaningful relationships is at the heart of the project, ensuring everyone feels valued and knows they are not alone.

We are extremely grateful to The Veteran’s Foundation for funding this valuable project and helping The Bridge for Heroes continue its work supporting those who have served, those currently serving and their families.
