The Bridge for Heroes has been awarded funding from The Norfolk Community Foundation to deliver Project: Beyond the Uniform, a new creative programme designed to support members of the Armed Forces community.
The funding, awarded through the Public Health- Empowering Communities for Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, will enable The Bridge for Heroes to facilitate a series of workshops using storytelling, music, art, and the exploration of historical facts. These sessions will provide opportunities for veterans to share and celebrate their experiences while supporting mental health, wellbeing, and community connection.
Project: Beyond the Uniform recognises the value of creative expression as a tool for improving mental health and the project aims to share and celebrate veteran’s experiences.
Music sessions will be available, open to all members of the Armed Forces community. No previous musical experience is required, and participants are encouraged to attend, take part, and enjoy being part of a welcoming and supportive environment. Art sessions are also taking place on Thursdays at 10:30 AM. If you are in the Armed Forces community, please pop along, we’d be delighted to see you.
Claire Mackintosh MBE, Chief Executive of Norfolk Community Foundation, said:
“Norfolk Community Foundation is delighted to support this much needed project that will make a real difference in the community. We wish them every success with their work.”
Helen Taylor, CEO of The Bridge for Heroes, added:
