The Bridge for Heroes is delighted to announce that it has received further support from the Norfolk Community Foundation through the Connecting Older People Fund for its new initiative, Project Nourish & Connect.
This exciting project aims to support older members of the local Armed Forces community by providing daily home-cooked meals, alongside opportunities for social connection, friendship, and peer support. The funding enables The Bridge for Heroes to provide between 10 and 20 meals per day, six days a week, helping older veterans and their families reduce loneliness and isolation, while also supporting those on low incomes to manage their budgets effectively. “We are thrilled to bring this project to our community,” said Helen Taylor, CEO of The Bridge for Heroes. “Project Nourish & Connect is about more than just meals, it’s about creating a welcoming space where our Armed Forces community can come together, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.
This support from Norfolk Community Foundation allows us to make a real difference in people’s lives every day.” Claire Mackintosh MBE, Chief Executive of Norfolk Community Foundation, said: “Norfolk Community Foundation is delighted to support this much needed project that will make a real difference in the community. We wish them every success with their work.”
The Bridge for Heroes invites all members of the Armed Forces community to join for a home-cooked meal and a friendly chat. We’ll share updates as the project develops. If you’re part of the Armed Forces community, you’re warmly invited to join us at The Bridge for Heroes.
