We bid a fond farewell to Mick Brock, veteran of the Royal Marines and a beneficiary of The Bridge for Heroes who's funeral took place at Mintlyn Crematorium on 22 May 2023.
The night of 16 - 17th of May 1943 saw the raid on three strategically important dams located in the Ruhr Valley, the industrial heartland of Germany.
In order to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, The Bridge for Heroes held a tea party at The Bridge Centre on the 4th May, screened the full Coronation Ceremony on the 6th May, took part a street party organised by the Live and Let Live Public House on the aptly named Windsor Street on the 7th May and held a further tea party at Nelson House Activity Centre on the 9th May. All of the events were well attended and greatly appreciated by staff, volunteers and beneficiaries alike. Our sincere thanks go to all who helped provide the sandwiches, scones and cake and for those who helped celebrate the wonderful occasion with us
The Bridge for Heroes is holding a Tea Party on Thursday 4th May to celebrate the Kings Coronation on the 6th May. Why not come along to The Bridge Centre in South Clough Lane, Kings Lynn and have a hot drink and a cake with us?
Massive congratulations to Gregg Baker who completed the Kings Lynn GEAR 10k run on Sunday 30th April with a 40lb Bergen on his back. Gregg is pictured after the run being congratulated by The Mayor of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Lesley Bambridge. Gregg ran the GEAR on behalf of The Bridge for Heroes and if you would like to support his acheivement you can leave a donation on his JustGiving Page using the link below:
Congratulations to Mark Howard on the completion of the 2023 London Marathon, which he did virtually on the Lynn Sport Cycle path in Kings Lynn. Mark, a veteran of The Household Calvary, completed the 26.2-mile course in 6-hours 22 minutes in uniform and in his wheelchair! He was received amazing support along the way from many runners and staff from The Bridge for Heroes including the 'Renegade Runners', with particular thanks going to Sian Freeman (pictured) who cycled 15-miles alongside Mark. You can see the effort it took to complete the course by the pain on Mark's face as he endured blisters on his hand and a potential stress fracture to the wrist but it was all smiles in the end! @armedforcescovenantfundtrust @abfthesoldierscharity
The Southwold Roubaix cycling sportive took place on 23rd April offering routes of 25, 50, 75 and 100-miles both on and off road. A sportive is a mass participation event, not a race and offers the opportunity to get outdoors and do something you enjoy, meeting new people along the way. Cycling is not only good for your physical health, it also can also help combat isolation and lonliness. The photos are of Karl Anthony from The Bridge for Heroes and a chap called Andy who he met on the road and cycled the last 30-miles together offering mutual support and had a good laugh a long the way and the finishers medal. Come and join us for a cup of tea or coffee, sandwiches and scones to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla
The Bridge for Heroes would like to thank Simon Rowe, Radio West Norfolk and all of the supermarkets for the donation of the Easter Eggs for our beneficiaries and in particular the children they support. We are in no doubt that this will make their Easter more enjoyable. So well done everyone!
Mark Howard took part in the London 'Landmarks' Marathon on Sunday 2nd April 2023 on behalf of The Bridge for Heroes. Mark completed the 13.2-mile course in 3hrs 16mins which wasn't too bad considering he did it in a wheelchair. We are sure you will agree that this was a fabulous effort and we wish Mark well for the full 'virtual' marathon that he is doing at Lynn Sport on 23rd April
