London Marathon

Mark’s Challenges reaches the 50-mark following the London Marathon.

Mark started his challenges in 2016 at the Edinburgh Marathon using crutches and completed his fiftieth on Sunday 2nd October by finishing the London Marathon in 5hrs 26-minutes in his wheel-chair.  Mark, who was injured in service whilst a soldier in the Life Guards stated that “whilst I was exhausted and suffering cramps at the 22-mile point, the positive energy of the crowds and the sheer magnitude of the event saw me across the finishing line.  I am a Fundraiser for The Bridge for Heroes military veterans Charity based in King’s Lynn and all the money I raise goes to them.  If you would like to support me, please leave a small donation at my Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-Howard37 or www.just giving.com/bridgeforheroes”.

Tour De Broads

Mark & Karl road the Tour de Broads Sportive on 21st August completing the 50 & 75-mile courses respectively.  On route Karl met Dave from Norwich and had a good chat about cycling in general and what we do here at The Bridge for Heroes.  That's the beauty of cycling, it brings like minded people together and also provides an opportunity to spread the news about the services that we offer.  Who knows, we may even get some extra sponsorship?

Karl Anthony, Supported by Mark Howard, took part in the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 19th June. The 54-mile ride started on Clapham Common at 06:30hrs and finished some 4-hours later on Brighton Pier. The weather was excellent for riding and Karl even had a tail-wind! The only Down side was Ditchling Beacon Hill, which averages 9% with a maximum of 16% gradient. Coming only 8-miles from the finish, the riders are already getting tired and this hill is a real tester! If you would like to take part in organised rides, please contact Karl or Mark and join in 😃
