Last month marked another important step forward for The Bridge for Heroes, as continued support from the Veterans’ Foundation has enabled the charity to expand its reach through its ‘Project In Reach’ initiative.
Thanks to this funding, The Bridge for Heroes has been able to provide transport into its centre for members of the Armed Forces community who would otherwise struggle to attend. In March alone, the project facilitated an additional 28 transport journeys, helping individuals overcome one of the most significant barriers to engagement- accessibility.
For many veterans and members of the Armed Forces community, loneliness and social isolation remain pressing challenges, particularly for those who may be living alone, experiencing mobility issues, or facing difficulties with public transport. By offering reliable transport into the centre, Bridge for Heroes is helping to ensure that more people can benefit from its services, activities, and peer support in a safe and welcoming environment.
The ‘Project In Reach’ initiative is designed specifically to identify and support those who might otherwise remain disconnected from the community. By removing transport as an obstacle, the charity is able to bring individuals into a space where they can build relationships, access support networks, and take part in activities that promote wellbeing and connection.
