The Bridge for Heroes has launched Wellness Wednesdays, a brand-new initiative as part of its Nourish and Connect project, aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of the local armed forces community. Every Wednesday, members can visit the drop-in centre at 52a South Clough Lane, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 5EA to take part in a mix of social and health-focused activities.

Supported by a grant from the Norfolk Community Foundation through the Connecting Older People Fund, the Nourish and Connect project provides daily home-cooked meals at The Bridge for Heroes drop-in centre, alongside a programme of activities for older veterans and their families.

Participants in Wellness Wednesdays can enjoy blood pressure checks, nutritious meals, armchair exercises, weekly weigh-ins, and healthy living tips, while also benefiting from the chance to socialise, make new friends, and reduce feelings of isolation.

Helen Taylor, CEO of The Bridge for Heroes, said:
“Wellness Wednesdays is about more than exercise and meals – it’s about creating a space where people can connect, share experiences, and feel part of a supportive community. We’re thrilled to see members of the Armed Forces Community coming together and making the most of this project.”

The Bridge for Heroes is also inviting charities and local organisations to get involved by offering talks or workshops on healthy living. Anyone interested is encouraged to get in touch.
